Lionel Messi, the only player to have scored against 36 different First Division clubs
Thanks to his goal against Girona the Argentine striker moves past the record he shared with former Real Madrid player Raúl González
Leo Messi’s appetite for records remains undiminished. With his strike in Saturday’s league game against Girona, the Argentine striker has now scored against 36 different First Division clubs. Moving past the record of 35 that he shared with former Real Madrid striker Raúl González.
The first team that Messi scored against in La Liga was Albacete back in 2004. The day of his debut in the league at Camp Nou. Some rivals have proved tough to break; it took the legend six games to find the net against Villarreal and five against Getafe. Others have not been so fortunate. Messi scored in his very first appearance against Rayo, Betis, Athletic, Eibar, Racing, Almeria, Mallorca, Sporting, Tenerife, Alavés, Leganés, Córdoba, Recreativo and Nàstic.
